The BREAKDOWN:
The first song, "Supastarz", is a show-off song.The lyrics are in English and there's a cool beat in the background. This is also the only video they released from this album. Then comes a song in the lines of Dance/Techno called "Don't even go there"; it's very dance-able and very fast-paced. We then get to hear "Si seulement", a Rap/RnB song that showcase Channel B's singing talent. The next song, "Deep Andanm" falls in the same love category. "Zoklo" is a ragga-oriented song where Top Adlerman gives one of his best performances ever;. The egotrip rap song "Sexy" follows. Then comes "One Two Three" a song where Posse X describes his love for Hip-Hop, backed up by some great beats. We are asked to cool off with a slow reggae joint "I Don't Wanna Cry". Then comes the super bomb "Chiffon" a 100 miles per hour. A not-so-good "Fann Nan Kann Nan" follows but with some sharp lyrics though. "Chapo Ba" is a great solo from Top Adlerman followed by yet another solo from Adlerman: "Why".
Our 2 CENTS:
Who would have thought Posse X would be the first ORS member to go solo? Well, I was indeed surprised when I saw this album on a shelve. However, this "something else" project, as they call it, was far from being just a display of X's personal talents. En effet, he invited other artists such as his ORS partners Top Tchookko, Channel B and Top Adlerman to share the mic with him.
From a Hip-Hop fan's point of view, there's more rap on this album than ragga. ORS fans finally get to hear Channel B's voice. The quality of the sound is one of the best I've heard on any haitian albums so far. If it didn't say so on the cover you'll never know it's a solo album: Posse X only have 1 solo joint "One Two Three".
The rappers would have been better off sticking to rapping in Creole and French; what I mean is that their English lyrics are far from being as sharp as their creole or french lyrics. Channel B said they did this project in 2 weeks; well, it shows when you're listening to most songs: too much freestyling.
